God, Don’t Keep Silent

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations.

Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies?

Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?

Why do the nations rebel?

Why are the countries devising plots that will fail?

Who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David, Your servant, said,

WHY DID THE NATIONS (Gentiles) BECOME ARROGANT and RAGE, AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS [against the Lord]?

‘THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND [to attack], AND THE RULERS WERE ASSEMBLED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS ANOINTED (the Christ, the Messiah).’

I have been silent from eternity. I shall be silent. I endured as a woman in labor. I shall be speechless and I shall in shock as one.

“For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, The anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, The voice of the daughter of Zion bewailing herself; She spreads her hands, saying, ‘Woe is me now, for my soul is weary Because of murderers!’

They forged a secret in their craftiness and counseled against your Holy Ones.They say,

“Come on, let’s annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more.”

They said in their hearts,

“Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.”

For they have conspired together with one mind. Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. All of them said,

“We’ll take God’s valuable land!”

Look how they’re rewarding us!

They’re coming to drive us from your property that you gave us to be our inheritance.

You are our God!

Punish them, for we are helpless in the face of this large army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you for help.

What answer will be given to the messengers from that nation?

The LORD has found Zion, and his oppressed people find refuge in her.

O my God, make them like whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind [worthless and without substance]. So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with [the violence of] Your storm.

They shall be ashamed; they shall be troubled to an eternity of eternities; they shall be put to shame and they shall be destroyed!
